Beginner’s Guide to Making and Marketing an App

If you’re building an app for the first time and trying to market it to the masses, you’ll have a lot of questions. The app market is one of the most dominant forces in the world today because of the proliferation of smartphones around the world. However, due to the highly monopolized marketplace of apps where you are only liable to succeed if you sell on either the Google Play Store or the Apple App store, you’ll need to know a trick or two to reach consumers and play on the trends and ideas that are popular today.

Juggling Ideas

A lot of successful people have built their businesses and their empires through focusing on multiple ideas. However, it’s better to take the steps one at a time. Focus on making sure that one app is great before you move on to the other. Don’t limit yourself, but at the same time give each app its due, especially if you think it has a lot of potential.

Develop your Idea

Make sure you put your idea on paper and think about it as hard as you can before trying to start writing code and shaping it in to a full-fledged app. There are a lot of options that you may not have thought of while the app was brewing in your head that you may get to by discussing and fleshing out the idea on paper.

Once you’re done with that, you should try looking for the ideas that you put down on the internet. Look at how others have implemented your ideas and app elements before, if they’ve left something out, if they’ve thought of things you haven’t, and if they’ve done things completely differently.

By comparing and contrasting styles and objectives, you can figure out what your idea can become.

How do I submit my App?

You can register pretty easily on the App Store or the Google Play store for about $100 per year. The actual process of uploading the app on to the store can be done by your developers. There are entire software development kits available on either store for you to build your apps on.

How do I make Money?

There’s a million in one chance that your app will explode. Over the years things like Uber, Snapchat, Prisma and Tinder have shown people that a novel idea can simply dominate the world if marketed well enough. All of these apps are free to download and only one of their services is paid. It’s your choice whether to monetize your app through advertisements or have customers pay for it, but whatever you decide should be based on research and clear facts rather than emotion and self admiration.

Marketing

The world of apps isn’t run by traditional advertising anymore. Now it’s all about the social media shout outs, endorsements from vloggers (Video blogger such as some of those youtubers) and tech bloggers and instagram celebrities etc. You should also look at the reviews posted by app users and work hard to iron out any problems that your app has.
